Seven municipalities receive additional names

Seven municipalities in Baden-Württemberg are receiving official additional designations today. The titles will be awarded by Interior Minister Thomas Strobl (CDU) in Stuttgart, the ministry announced. From October, the municipalities will then be able to adorn themselves with the additional place name.

One of the municipalities is the future rafting town of Schiltach (Rottweil district). For centuries, rafts were made here and used to transport wood. Mayor Thomas Haas (independent) is satisfied: “It is important that people are a little proud of their town,” says Haas.

Since a change to the municipal code four years ago, it has become much easier for municipalities to add an additional designation to highlight cultural features. Currently, 120 towns, municipalities and districts have an additional designation. Among other things, they hope that this will increase tourism.
