Yusuf Kabadayi, who moved from FC Bayern to FC Augsburg, is in the spotlight after his goal in his Bundesliga debut. Is the DFB losing another talent?

Augsburg – Yusuf Kabadayi made his Bundesliga debut on the previous matchday and scored his first goal straight away. The attacker scored the goal in injury time against FC St. Pauli to give FC Augsburg a 3-1 win. But this was only the beginning, especially since the 20-year-old is new to the Fuggerstadt team.

Kabadayi could play for Germany and Turkey

Kabadayi only moved from FC Bayern to Augsburg in the summer. The right-footer was loaned to FC Schalke 04 last season, having previously played in all of Bayern's youth teams. Kabadayi moved to Augsburg to “earn as many minutes as possible in the Bundesliga,” he himself explained with regard to his transfers. At FCA, he will also be in the focus of the national associations.

Since Kabadayi's parents are of Turkish origin, the Munich native can play for both Germany and Turkey. Kabadayi initially played for the Turkish U15 and U16 teams before moving on to the German U18, U19 and U20 teams.

Turkey tried to get Kabadayi

In Turkey, however, Kabadayi has not been lost sight of – on the contrary. According to information from football.news If the Turkish association is specifically trying to sign him, the FC Augsburg shooting star is said to have already received an inquiry. Kabadayi was initially placed in the Turkish U21 national team, but there he had the prospect of developing into a senior national player.

Is the DFB losing another former FC Bayern talent to Turkey? Kenan Yıldız, who moved from the German record champions to Juventus Turin on a free transfer in 2022, decided to play for the Turkish national team, even though he would also have been eligible to play for Germany. “Germany never approached me, never contacted me.” “That's why the option wasn't there, the question didn't arise,” explained the Regensburg native in 2023.

Meanwhile, FC Augsburg will face 1. FSV Mainz 05 in the Bundesliga on Friday (8.30 p.m.). Kabadayi will continue to attract attention in the FCA jersey and build on his goal success against St. Pauli. The association officials will probably be watching closely.
