EastEnders wedding ends in tears for big couple in new filming images | Soaps

Images from the filming of EastEnders confirm emotional and intense scenes when disaster strikes at the wedding of Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) and George Knight (Colin Salmon).

The Queen Vic couple have been engaged for some time, but due to classic Walford drama (Hello, Cindy), they haven't gotten around to getting married yet.

Thankfully, the celebrations have finally begun, as these pictures show almost the entire cast gathered at a church to take part in George and Elaine's big day.

However.

One person who is less than impressed that George and Elaine decide to spend the rest of their lives together is Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins), George's ex.

Over the past few months, she has repeatedly tried to get back together with George, but he has constantly reminded Cindy that he wants to be with Elaine.

This led to Cindy starting an affair with George's son Junior (Micah Balfour), which has now been going on for months.

But was she left completely alone in the face of the devastation visible on her face in these photographs?

Or is she simply trying to win back the so-called love of her life, George, and making one last attempt to win his affections as he prepares for his wedding to Elaine?

If so, what will Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) think? Co-star Adam was present during filming, so there will no doubt be fireworks when Ian gets wind of Cindy's intentions?

Could Cindy and Junior's affair come to light on the big day? We fear the jury is still out.

The biggest question of all, of course, is whether George and Elaine will actually make it to the altar and tie the knot. Or will Cindy's presence end up ruining the whole wedding?

As we enter the final months of 2024, EastEnders continues to prepare for its 40th anniversary in February, which will feature a live episode.

In a soap opera, the power to decide the outcome of a story is given to the audience for the first time.

While details are currently scarce, we do know that the interactive element will involve your opinion on the desired outcome of a love story – but whose?

The result will be announced during the live episode as viewers in front of and behind the screen adjust to the outcome of the public vote.

Referring to the recent spate of big-star returns, including Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer), Chrissie Watts (Tracy-Ann Oberman) and David Wicks (Michael French), he continued: “There are many more nods to our history to come, all of which will add to our momentous anniversary week.”

“This time, we're not only broadcasting the show live, but we're adding an extra twist. For the very first time in the show's history, we're giving viewers the gift of having a say in deciding the outcome of one of our storylines.

“While we are still finalizing the exact details of the 40^th I can promise you it will be an unforgettable week full of shocking twists and turns that will change Albert Square and the lives of the people who live there forever.'
