23 confirmed deaths from Habagat, 3 storms

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) has confirmed 23 deaths due to the intensified southwest monsoon (Habagat) and storms Ferdie, Gener and Helen.

Nine of the deaths occurred in Mimaropa (Mindoro, Maridinque, Romblon and Palawan), four each in Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), and two in Central Visayas.

The agency also reported 15 missing persons, 12 of whom are in Mimaropa, two in the Zamboanga Peninsula and one in Western Visayas.

15 people were reported injured.

According to the NDRRMC, 1,061,421 people or 298,633 families in Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, Soccsksargen, Caraga, BARMM and Cordillera were affected by the weather disturbance.

It said 354,926 people or 113,141 families were affected in Central Luzon.

About 1,243 houses were damaged. Infrastructure damage was estimated at P2,401,500.

The NDRRMC said relief items worth P17,437,776 were distributed.
