Airlines cancel flights because they fear an escalation

Fearing a reaction from Hezbollah to the Pieper attack, Air France announced this evening (Tuesday) that it would cancel its flights to Israel for tomorrow. At the same time, Lufthansa and Swiss also announced cancellations.

Air France's cancellation comes after the airline only recently resumed operations in Israel after suspending operations in late July due to safety concerns. The two airlines are likely to soon be joined by other foreign airlines announcing the cancellation of their flights to Israel, while there are still airlines that have not yet resumed operations to Israel.

Companies that have not yet resumed flights to Israel include: Rainier, EasyJet, United Airlines, Delta, Wagging, Virgin Atlantic, Air India, Air Canada, Cathay Pacific, Emirates and American Airlines.

The airport authority states that flight operations in Israel are continuing as usual at this time.
