One dead in accident on Highway 11/17

THUNDER BAY – A 67-year-old man died in a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 11/17 Wednesday afternoon.

Two others were sent to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for further testing.

Members of the Thunder BayShabaqua, Armstrong and Nipigon Ontario provincial police units, along with Shuniah Fire and Emergency Services, responded to a collision involving two commercial vehicles and two passenger vehicles at approximately 1:19 p.m. Wednesday.

The highway was closed until early Thursday morning.

The OPP Northwest Traffic Accident Management and Enforcement Team and OPP Accident Reconstructionists, along with Forensic Identification Services, are assisting with the ongoing investigation.
