Legendary drummer of the 80s dies at the age of 73

Kenny Hyslop, known as the drummer of Simple Minds and Slik, has died at the age of 73.

No cause of death was given.

Midge Ure, who played with Hyslop in Slik, posted on X about his death.

“I was about to board the (British Airways) flight from JFK and heard that my old friend/Slik/Simple Minds drummer Kenny Hyslop had died,” Ure wrote. “He had an active life! My deepest condolences to his friends and family. He was very loved.”

“Kenny was the 'Chris' of Slik. We were inseparable even in those early years. Our shared love of button-down cowboy shirts bonded us immediately! It's the little things that make great friendships.”

As a member of Slik, Hyslop helped the band release “Forever and Ever.” He also played with Simple Minds in 1981.
