Harris-Walz secures support from Michigan Teamsters despite declaration of neutrality

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters announced that it would not support either Trump or Harris

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters, one of the country's most influential unions, announced for the first time since 1996 that it would not support any of the U.S. presidential candidates.

Accordingly BBC, The union, which has about 1.3 million members in the US and Canada, said poll results among its members indicated there was “no clear support” for Kamala Harris or Donald Trump.

The union leader declared his neutrality in the November elections on Wednesday.

On the other hand, the Michigan Teamsters Union has endorsed the Democrats' Harris and Walz campaign despite the announcement by the Teamsters Union president.

Kevin Moore, president of the Michigan Teamsters Union, said: “(Harris-Walz have) consistently demonstrated their commitment to the labor movement.”

Moore told News Channel 3: “The decision for Sean O'Brien and the International board would be his. Right now he says he will remain neutral. The Joint Council and the Teamsters of Michigan know it is too important for us to provide a neutral endorsement. We will support Kamala Harris and Tim Walz with all our strength.”

It is noteworthy that in the exit polls, 59.6% of rank-and-file Teamsters voted for Trump, compared to 34% for Harris.
