Father-daughter duo in Haripad dies in tragic road accident

ALAPPUZHA: A devastating road accident on NH 66 near Haripad claimed the lives of Abdul Sathar (54) and his daughter Aaliya (20) on Thursday morning.

The incident occurred around 7am when her car collided with a parked truck at KV Jetty.

Sathar, who was working in Saudi Arabia, had come from Medina to attend Aaliya's engagement ceremony.

Four other people, including Sathar's wife and two children, sustained minor injuries.

Police suspect that the driver may have dozed off and caused the accident. Sathar and Aaliya, who were sitting on the damaged side of the vehicle, were taken to Alappuzha Medical College Hospital.

Aaliya was declared dead on arrival, while Sathar succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital.

The funeral took place on Thursday evening at the Kanjirappuzha Pallikutty Jumamasjid.
