Diddy's life is 'in danger' at a famous prison where inmates want to attack him, a former prison warden says

Sean “Diddy” Combs is “in danger” in his New York prison because other inmates would love to attack the fallen hip-hop star, the former prison warden said.

The 54-year-old was taken to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn on Tuesday after his request for bail was denied – and his presence was not wanted there, said former MDC director Cameron Lindsay.

Lindsay told TMZ that some of the more violent inmates even considered killing Combs a “badge of honor.”

Fortunately for Combs, he is being held in the prison's special housing unit while he awaits trial in his sex trafficking case.

But his life at the MDC will be anything but comfortable.

Every aspect of his life is monitored, Lindsay explained.

His isolation from the other inmates does not mean he receives special treatment. Like everyone else, Combs has to get up at 6 a.m. and has only one hour of free time per day.

He is allowed to shower three times a week and is rarely visited by friends and family.

Every day, Combs must clean his cell, make his bed, and sweep the floors. His meals consist of a strict 1,800-calorie diet.

The food will not be particularly fresh, as it is prepared for him in a warming box and he has to eat it separately from his fellow inmates.

The disgraced rapper had previously asked the judge to release him from jail on Wednesday following his arrest on Monday.

In a feeble attempt to be released on bail, Combs promised the judge that he would have as few female visitors as possible at his Miami Beach home in light of allegations that he had “freaked out.”

He also offered his own house and that of his mother, as well as a $50 million guarantee, but his desperate efforts came to nothing.

Combs is not the first high-profile inmate at MDC. R. Kelly, Ghislaine Maxwell and Michael Cohen are just a few of the prominent figures the prison has seen.

MDC, the only federal prison in New York City, is notorious for its violence, harsh conditions, and drug smuggling. In 2021, MDC's Manhattan facility was closed.

Described as “hell on earth,” it has been plagued by murders and suicides since it opened in 1994.

Because of his celebrity status, Combs is housed in a special housing unit separate from the other inmates.

Combs' attorney spoke about the terror that reigns inside the prison, stating, “Several courts in this district have recognized that the conditions at the Metropolitan Detention Center are not suitable for pretrial detention.”

They also said that at least four prisoners had committed suicide in the last three years.

“Just this summer, an inmate was murdered,” the hip-hop mogul’s defenders wrote, according to The Daily Beast.

The lawyers also claimed that the inmates found cockroaches in their food and mold in the showers.

In 2019, a fire cut off power and heating to parts of the prison, leaving inmates exposed to extreme conditions.

Deirdre von Dornum, who heads the Federal Defenders' Brooklyn team, said the inmates wrapped themselves “from head to toe in towels and blankets” to keep warm.

People protested and gathered in front of the MDC, with demonstrators banging on the walls and signaling for help with night lights.

A $10 million class-action lawsuit related to the incident was settled last year, according to the law firm that represented the clients.

But conditions have not improved.

Combs was denied bail after being charged with human trafficking and organized crime and was arrested after arriving in New York City to cooperate with prosecutors.

He denied all allegations made against him.

Combs is accused of forcing people to have sex, possessing weapons and beating other women besides his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura.

His lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, has announced that he will appeal the decision to imprison Combs.

He said: “Mr. Combs is a fighter – he will fight to the end. He is innocent. He came to New York to prove his innocence. He is not afraid – he is not afraid of the charges.”

“He was looking forward to clearing his name and he will clear his name. We believe in him with all our hearts. He did not do these things.”
