Driver shot with suspected air pistol, Vancouver police say

Vancouver police say they are investigating after a motorist was injured Tuesday night when he was shot, possibly with an air rifle.

According to the Vancouver Police Department (VPD), the incident occurred around 7:00 p.m. PT near West 4th Avenue and Balaclava Street in the Kitsilano neighbourhood.

Investigators say the driver of a car-sharing vehicle was injured when the driver's window was hit by a “projectile” – possibly from an air rifle fired from another vehicle.

The incident occurred after a “minor interaction” between the drivers of the two vehicles, police told CBC News in a statement.

The driver of the car-sharing vehicle received medical treatment at the scene, said VPD Sergeant Steve Addison.

The perpetrator drove away. The police have not yet been able to identify the perpetrator, but said they have launched an investigation and searched the neighborhood for witnesses and video footage.
