Arrest for aggravated assault after knife attack in Shreveport

On September 14, 2024, at approximately 1:57 a.m., Shreveport Police Officers were dispatched to 1848 Anna St. following a report of an armed subject.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim and witnesses who reported that a known acquaintance, 35-year-old Gerame Powellhad pulled a hunting knife out of his pocket and approached the victim to stab him. Fortunately, the victim was unharmed.

Powell was not at the scene when officers arrived, but was found later that evening around 7:00 p.m. He was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and criminal damage. Additionally, Powell is charged with drug paraphernalia and criminal damage in connection with a separate incident.

This is another outstanding achievement by the SPD patrol officers, who, through teamwork, took another violent offender off the streets.
