Make a note: These are Netflix's 7 top series of 2025

Yes, we're early on this. But hey, anticipation is the greatest joy – and you'll be amazed when you see what (and who) Netflix has to offer in terms of new originals in 2025.

Whether you miss the dark crime thriller “Ozark”, love science fiction or want a treat in a clever cop thriller: everything is there in the series reboots next year. Cool stars included!

1. Black Rabbit

This is the series on the cover. Because even though the photo comes from “Ozark,” the hero in the new original is the same: Jason Bateman plays the brother of… Jude Law! Now that's a cool star duo. The story promises fodder for fans of darker dramas: Law plays the owner of a trendy bar in New York, whose well-ordered existence is threatened by danger and drama when he lets his chaotic brother (Bateman) back into his life.

2. The Burroughs

Behind this new original are two of the most successful creatives under contract with Netflix: The Duffer brothers – world-famous creators of “Stranger Things”. This mystery hit was slowly coming to an end (premiere also in 2025), but the two already have something exciting new up their sleeves that somehow doesn't sound so far away: “The Borroughs” is a sci-fi series set in a small country town in which a group of unlikely heroes must come together to face a supernatural threat…

3. Gringo Hunter

Cop series are a favorite genre for many. And this new one scores points with its real background. It's about a Mexican elite unit that – see the title – hunts criminals who fly from the USA to Mexico. Suspense, international police cooperation, Mexico as a series location – that sounds good and could be a hit. In the main cast: Harold Torres, Mayra Hermosillo, Manuel Masalva and Andrew Leland Rogers. All of them are not yet well known here – but that could change in 2025.

4. Running point

We also want to laugh in between all the drama. That's where this series by Mindy Kaling comes in, having already landed a Netflix success with her work “Never Have I Ever”. In the new original, none other than Kate Hudson (“Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery”) plays the central role. “Running Point” tells the story of Isla, who suddenly has to take over the management of her family business – a famous professional basketball company – after a scandal and is now not only faced with the challenge of working quickly, but also convincing the male-dominated workforce of her suitability as boss.

5. Amsterdam Empire

Cannabis! Drama! Movie star! In the Netflix highlight, Famke Janssen, best known from “X-Men” (as Jane Grey), plays the lead role in a drama set in the Amsterdam hash scene. Janssen can be seen as former pop diva Betty, who was cheated on by her coffee shop empire husband (and is probably trying to even the score by not entirely fair means). The Dutch capital as the setting) is new and promising.

6. The election

Is anyone else a huge fan of clever political thrillers? If so, you can look forward to this superbly cast original, in which the French and British prime ministers meet at an international summit and then a kidnapping and blackmail threaten everything. In the role of France's head of state, you can look forward to the always great Julie Delpy, who we have loved since her cult train romance with Ethan Hawke (“Before Sunrise” – order the two sequels from Amazon in the DVD box*). could be exciting and good.

7. Hotel Transylvania

All fans of the animated cinema saga about supernatural and very likeable scary creatures and their (family) affairs can now look forward to a series adaptation. It is about the protagonists Drac and Mavis, known from the films, who want to open a new holiday resort for monsters in the desert.
