Cincinnati firefighter arrested after double shooting

CINCINNATI (WXIX) – A Cincinnati firefighter is accused of firing multiple shots from a firearm during an argument, shooting a man in the head and an innocent bystander in the arm, court records show.

Both victims suffered “serious physical injuries” in the altercation on August 11 in Colerain Township, an investigator wrote in the criminal complaint.

Mack Ogletree, 36, of College Hill was arrested at work Tuesday on two counts of assault and booked into the Hamilton County Jail at 1:30 p.m.

He was held overnight without bail and will make his first court appearance at 9 a.m. Wednesday.

FOX19 NOW will be in the courtroom and will continue to provide breaking news coverage.

Hamilton County officials arrested Ogletree around 11:30 a.m. as he reported for an overtime shift at Fire Station 21 in South Fairmount, our media partner, the Cincinnati Enquirer, reports, citing a memo City Manager Sheryl Long wrote to Mayor Aftab Pureval and the City Council on Tuesday.

Ogletree's regular assignment is at Engine 23 in Walnut Hills and he has been with the fire department for a little over a year, according to the Enquirer.

He was placed on unpaid administrative leave pending the results of a criminal investigation and an internal city review, the memo said.
