Woman charged with attempted knife attack on man with steak knife

ELKO – A woman was arrested Sunday and charged with attacking a man with a steak knife.

Brook C. Sena, 53, was arrested on September 15 for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

According to court documents, Elko police were called to a domestic violence incident at 519 Morse Lane, where Sena was found standing in front of a trailer with her hands raised and her back to officers.

The arresting officer said it was “immediately” obvious that Sena was under the influence of alcohol, “due to her glassy eyes, her staring into the distance and her slurred speech,” according to court records.

The officer said it was “very difficult” to question Sena “as she gave vague answers and was easily distracted.”

After being read her Miranda rights, Sena confirmed that she understood her rights and wanted to speak to the police.

Sena said there was “an incident between her and the man she called her ex-boyfriend that resulted in Brook fighting back,” but she did not elaborate to police, according to court documents. She also denied possessing a knife, breaking down the door or “hitting” the victim.

A man who identified himself as Sena's roommate said she “held him captive in the bathroom and tried to stab him. [him] through the door,” the documents state.

The man told police he came home from work and found Sena “drunk” in the trailer. After taking a shower, Sena tried to get into the bathroom, but he blocked the door.

Sena then stabbed the door more than 20 times with a steak knife, saying “she was going to kill him as she stabbed the door,” court documents say.

Police found that Sena “stabbed the door with so much force that the knife penetrated both sides of the door.” On the victim's side, “the knife that emerged from the barrier on his side had multiple puncture marks.”

A steak knife with a broken tip was found in the house.

Sena was taken to the Elko County Jail without incident. Her bail was set at $100,000.
