Affidavit: Man poses as Lyft driver and sexually harasses passenger in Austin

AUSTIN, TexasA man who worked as a Lyft driver in Austin was arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a passenger.

According to an affidavit, the attack occurred in May.

The victim said 42-year-old Maurys Madruga-Mesa made several detours on the way to her drop-off location before stopping in an area in West Austin to attack her.

The victim said Lyft sent her a safety alert at some point after Madruga-Mesa ended the ride early at the wrong location.

During an interview, Austin police said Madruga-Mesa admitted to using a friend's Lyft account for work and that he was not the person featured on the app.

Madruga-Mesa denied any wrongdoing.

He was taken to the Travis County Jail on $40,000 bail.
