Ruto to present framework for implementing police reforms

President William Ruto will officially launch the strategic framework for implementing reforms in the National Police Service, Kenya Prisons Service and the National Youth Service.

MPs decide on Kanja’s fate as the next Inspector General

The designated Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, will learn his fate today.

During the morning session, MEPs are expected to examine the report of the joint committee that examined his suitability for appointment to the post.

KTDA fertilizer

Agriculture Minister Paul Rono will receive the first shipment of tea fertilizer at KPA in Mombasa.

The shipment of 47,000 tons is to be distributed to small tea farmers across the country before the short rains.

The Attorney General's Office will hold an advisory breakfast meeting with stakeholders today to advance the development of public participation legislation.

The event will take place at the Kenya School of Government, Lower Kabete Campus.

Education CS before Parliament

Education Minister Julius Ogamba is due to appear before MPs this afternoon.

He will address key education issues, including school fires and riots nationwide, as well as overall student safety.

The focus is on the tragic incident at Hillside Academy.

“This incident represents a tragic loss for the nation and Parliament must be fully informed of its cause and the remedial measures proposed by the ministry,” said National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula.

Welfare of seafarers

The Ministry of Mines, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Shipping and Maritime Affairs will hold a press conference on the welfare of seafarers.

Labour Minister Alfred Mutua recently established the Seafarers Wages Council.

The workers are introduced by COTU representatives Atie Swaleh, David Kibuyu and Bruno Otiato.

The employers are represented by FKE representatives Naum Tororei, Stephine Obiro and Bwanaheri Lali.

Mutua also nominated Hamisi Banton to represent the Ministry of Labour.

The National Wage Council is a body established under the Labour Institutions Act to advise the Government on minimum wage and other wage-related issues.
