Recap of the premiere of season 33 of “Dancing With the Stars”

The ballroom is officially open for the season.

On September 17, the 33rd season of “Dancing With the Stars” kicked off with an all-new cast of celebrities and returning pros stepping out in their dancing shoes.

Hosted by Julianne Hough and Alfonso Ribeiro, the new group of celebs prepared their routines and worked individually with their professional partners to win this year's Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy.

Since Derek Hough, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli are also returning as judges, it was announced at the beginning of the show that there would be no eliminations in this premiere episode.

There were a handful of impressive and surprising routines that wowed the judges. These included Olympian Stephen Nedoroscik, who brought a lot of energy to the stage, former basketball player Dwight Howard and actor Chandler Kinney.

Last year, actors Xochitl Gomez and Val Chmerkovskiy were crowned champions of season 32 of “DWTS.”
