The new Raab show on RTL: How it works – and who hosts it

Stefan Raab is awakening feelings of nostalgia in his fans with his new show on RTL+. The new format starts on Wednesday. Information is already available in advance.

New studio, same feeling! Stefan Raab is “back in town” – that’s what he sings himself in his new song “Pa aufs Maul”, which went straight to number one in the German charts after his TV comeback against Regina Halmich.

The first show in almost a decade in which Raab is back in front of the camera promises nothing less than a “world first”. Raab himself calls it an entertainment quiz competition hybrid show. The first edition can be seen on RTL+ from Wednesday at 8:10 p.m.

A few hundred fans who were quick enough to secure tickets were already there on Tuesday evening at the recording in the EMG Studios in Hürth – express.de knows how it went.

The first half of the new Raab show is reminiscent of “TV Total”

The show is actually a mix of Raab’s baby “TV Total”, his show hit “Schlag den Raab” and the RTL long-running show “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire”.

According to Raab, the show will last 90 minutes and will be split into two parts. The first half is very reminiscent of the old “TV Total”. Not only because Raab – as always outside the boxing ring – appears in jeans and a light blue shirt and provides musical accompaniment for the Heavytones.

Raab's humor, his art, his style are unchanged. Even his gag victims (such as Peter Maffay or the Amigos) are known from before. But there is a modern touch, the popular nipple board is now a smartphone on which Raab plays memes. Nothing new – but tried and tested. And what his fans have been missing sorely.

The second part of the show is about a great chance to win

Part two of the show is reminiscent of “Beat Raab” and “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire”. Five candidates buzz in on a selection question for the right to compete against Raab.

Whoever is the fastest has the chance to win a million euros. To do this, they have to survive various rounds. Firstly, Raab asks quiz questions that only the candidate has to answer.

After every two correct answers, there is a duel with Raab in a game (skill, knowledge, strength…). Only the person who wins three games in a row at the end wins one million euros.

The show’s voice artist is brand new: Cornelius “Corni” Küpper

Meanwhile, the voice of the show is completely new – and it is a complete surprise. While Elton, a well-known Raab colleague, is presenting the games, they are commented on by a new face in the Raab cosmos.

Cornelius “Corni” Küpper landed the job. The son of commentator legend Hansi Küpper not only inherited his distinctive voice from him, but also his talent. He has already commentated on Europa League games for RTL in the past – and now also on the big Raab show.
