Man stabbed his wife of 65 years, authorities say

ANNANDALE, Minnesota (Gray News) – An 85-year-old Minnesota man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his long-time wife to death.

Annandale police and the Wright County Sheriff's Office said Rodney Allen Andersen was arrested and charged with the murder of his wife.

According to police, officers were dispatched to a home on Knollwood Street in Annandale shortly before 10 a.m. on Sept. 12 for reports of a domestic dispute.

The victim, an 83-year-old woman whose identity officials did not publicly release, was found by police in the house with fatal injuries.

According to Wright County court documents provided to police, Andersen was the first to call 911, telling the operator that he had stabbed his wife with a kitchen knife.

During questioning, Andersen told the police chief that he and his wife, whom he married over 65 years ago in 1958, were constantly arguing. The two had “a big argument” the morning before the fatal stabbing, Andersen said.

“I think I lost my head,” Andersen told investigators.

Andersen was booked into the Wright County Jail on a charge of first-degree murder.
