Dwayne Russell's prediction for the 2024 AFL Grand Final

Dwayne Russell's prediction for the 2024 AFL Grand Final

SEN presenter Dwayne Russell expects Sydney and Brisbane to win their respective preliminary finals this weekend.

The Swans host the Power on Friday night at the SCG for a 1st vs 2nd clash, while the Lions, who finished 5th, travel to the MCG on Saturday night to face the Cats (3rd).

While many are tipping Sydney as the team is playing at home and has had a week off, Brisbane go into the clash as underdogs having already travelled to an away game at GWS last week, while Geelong had a week off after crushing Port Adelaide in a qualifying final.

Russell justifies his decision to pick the Lions over the Cats by saying that his tip is simply based on the fact that he believes Brisbane has a better list than Geelong.

“I predicted Brisbane to win for Geelong,” said Russell SEN afternoons.

“I predicted Brisbane to win the championship earlier this year and I think it will be a final between Brisbane and Swans, that's what I'm predicting.

“I think Brisbane have a better list than the Cats, but the Cats have the home advantage over the MCG.

“The Cats have a pretty good swing and a break, whereas Brisbane will be on the road for the second week in a row. So there are a few things going against Brisbane.

“But when you compare their lineups, when you compare Brisbane's attacking line and Geelong's back line, I think Brisbane have enough scoring opportunities up there.”

The preliminary final between Sydney and Port Adelaide on Friday at the SCG starts at 7.40pm (AEST).

The preliminary final between Geelong and Brisbane on Saturday at the MCG starts at 5.15pm (AEST).
