Free child seat instruction at UI Health Care on Thursday evening

IOWA CITY, Iowa (Iowa's News Now)​— The University of Iowa's Stead Family Children's Hospital offers free training on the use of child seats and assistance with installation.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, nearly half (46%) of child safety seats are installed incorrectly, which can result in serious injury or death in the event of an accident.

Safety experts at UI Stead Family Children's Hospital and Safe Kids Johnson County want to make sure these seats are installed properly.

The hospital is offering a free drive-thru location this week with trained technicians, some with expertise in special needs, to provide education on car seats and assist with proper seat installation.
