Portage man asked teenagers for nude photos, charges say

Dereck Moore was arrested Sunday and remained behind bars until Tuesday morning on charges of attempted child exploitation, records show.

According to the police report, the Porter teenager contacted police on Saturday and claimed that Moore, whom he has known for several years, had sent him sexually explicit text messages and demanded nude photos of the teenager in return.

Moore also had sexual relations with the teenager and gave him money, police said.

Investigators said they found several sexually explicit messages from Moore on the teen's phone.

“Picture? Please. I'll send something,” Moore allegedly wrote in one exchange before the teen wanted to take a shower.

“I’ll skip that (crying emoji),” the teenager replied.

Police said they found sexually explicit images on Moore's phone, which will now be searched more closely.

Moore was scheduled to have an initial hearing before Porter Circuit Court Judge Mary DeBoer on Tuesday morning, records show.
