Police: Person associated with GISBH must face trial for intimidation and assault

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 17 – A person linked to Global Ikhwan Service and Business Holdings (GISBH) will appear in court tomorrow on charges of criminal intimidation and assault.

Earlier, an official spokesman from the police contingent headquarters in Kuala Lumpur informed media representatives about the arraignment scheduled for tomorrow.

According to published information, the man will face charges under Section 506 of the Penal Code in a court in Putrajaya.

The number of charges was not disclosed.

Section 506 of the Penal Code provides for a sentence of imprisonment for a term not exceeding seven years or a fine or both, if convicted.

Last Wednesday, the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department raided charitable homes in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan and rescued 402 people – 201 men and 201 women – aged between one and 17.

The police investigation focused on allegations of child exploitation in connection with charitable homes allegedly owned by GISB.

Earlier, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said authorities had recorded statements from 740 people, including 30 complainants, 216 witnesses, 392 victims and 102 suspects.

He also announced that the investigation into GISBH had revealed links to organized crime.
