Girl accused of stabbing two teachers and a student at school appears in court

A teenager accused of stabbing two teachers and a student at a Welsh school has appeared in court.

The 14-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, faces seven charges – three of attempted murder, three of wounding with intent and one of possession of a knife object on school property in Ammanford, Carmarthenshire.

He expects the testimony to last 15 to 20 minutes. The witnesses will be called for the first time on Wednesday, October 2, and the evidence will be concluded in the second week of the trial.

The trial is scheduled for two weeks.

Caroline Rees KC appeared for the defence.

The girl had previously denied three counts of attempted murder but pleaded guilty to the less serious offence of grievous bodily harm with intent at a hearing last month.

Pupils at Amman Valley School, also known as Ysgol Dyffryn Aman, were locked down on April 24 following the incident at the end of morning break.

Teachers Fiona Elias and Liz Hopkin and a student were injured but have since been released from hospital.
