TOKYO – A 25-year-old woman was arrested on the spot for allegedly trying to kill her boyfriend by stabbing him in the neck with scissors in Tokyo on Sept. 16.

The man's death was confirmed at the hospital where he was taken. The Nakano Police Station of the Metropolitan Police Department has upgraded the charge to murder and is investigating the incident.

Kotomi Sato, whose address and occupation are unknown, was arrested for allegedly attempting to kill the man, aged about 20, at his home in the capital's Nakano district by stabbing him in the neck with a pair of scissors at around 6:50 p.m. The scissors had a blade length of about 8 centimeters. Immediately afterward, she called the emergency number 119.

According to police officials, Sato partially denied the allegations, telling investigators: “We got into an argument and I thought he would listen to me if I pulled out a pair of scissors. When I swung the scissors I found under the TV shelf, it pierced his neck.”
