A man accused of stabbing another motorist in the chest during an alleged incident of driving aggression has been arrested but denied bail.

According to ACT Police, the incident allegedly began between 1.45pm and 2.10pm on Sunday (September 15) when a grey Subaru Liberty pulled in behind a black Mitsubishi Lancer on Flemington Road in Mitchell.

Police believe the drivers of the two cars began “interacting” as they headed north on Flemington Road and then both stopped at Nullarbor Avenue in Franklin.

The two male drivers allegedly got out of their cars and an altercation ensued, during which the driver of the Mitsubishi was stabbed in the chest.

He was taken to the hospital and the police were contacted.

A police spokesman said officers searched the home of a 29-year-old man in Florey on Monday afternoon (September 16).

During the search, officers reportedly found a number of items related to the alleged incident, including clothing, a knife and blood on a Subaru.

The man was charged with wounding with intent but pleaded not guilty in the Australian Capital Territory Magistrates Court on Tuesday (September 17).

Judge Robert Cook denied him bail and he was remanded in custody.

The matter was adjourned to 28 October.
