Teenager sent to juvenile detention center after stabbing in Grand Island

GRAND ISLAND, Nebraska (KSNB) – A Grand Island teenager is accused of stabbing another teenager to death with a knife on Friday.

Officers responded to the Casey's gas station at 1420 S. Locust on Friday afternoon.

According to GIPD, there was an ongoing argument between two groups of youths that escalated into a fight involving several youths.

During the fight, a 17-year-old boy stabbed another 17-year-old in the back. According to police, the victim suffered a ruptured spleen.

GIPD Captain Dean Elliott said the suspect will face charges of first-degree assault, use of a deadly weapon to commit a crime and tampering with evidence.

The juvenile suspect was taken to the Madison Juvenile Detention Center.
