Libertarian Party in New Hampshire criticized for ‘disgusting’ post about Harris

Libertarian Party presidential candidate Chase Oliver condemned a now-deleted New Hampshire Libertarian Party comment on X that appeared to call for violence against Vice President Kamala Harris.

In his statement shared on X Sunday, Oliver called the post “disgusting.”

“I 100% condemn LPNH's statement regarding Kamala Harris. It is abhorrent and should never have been released,” Oliver wrote.

A New Hampshire reporter shared a screenshot of the now-deleted post by the Libertarian Party of New Hampshire that allegedly said, “Anyone who assassinates Kamala Harris would be an American hero.”

The group spoke out in favor of removing the X post on Sunday, writing: “We deleted a tweet because we do not want to violate the terms of this site that we have agreed to. It is a disgrace that libertarians cannot speak freely even on a 'freedom of speech' site. Libertarians are truly the most oppressed minority.”

This is not the first time the Libertarian Party of New Hampshire has posted or shared messages on X that address political violence or anti-LGBTQ rhetoric or that have drawn criticism. Later on Sunday, the account posted a message that read: “John McCain's cancer didn't go far enough.”

The article appeared on the same day that the FBI said former President Donald Trump appeared to be the target of an assassination attempt on a golf course in Florida.

In July, Trump was injured in an assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Oliver further said in his statement that his party was committed to a “non-aggression policy.”

“As libertarians, we condemn the use of violence, whether it is carried out by governments, individuals or other political entities,” he continued. “We are committed to the principle of non-aggression and peaceful conflict resolution. This is also something we promise as part of our party membership.”

Following the release of his statement, the Libertarian Party of New Hampshire responded in a series of posts with a homophobic slur and accused Oliver of being an “infiltrating left-wing snake.”

A representative for the group did not respond to ABC News' request for comment.
