Woman allegedly stabbed her child's father to death in western Nebraska

ALLIANCE, Nebraska (KNOP) – Alliance police say a woman is in custody on suspicion of attempted murder following a domestic dispute with the father of her child.

On Saturday, officers were dispatched to a home at 2652 Marvin Circle around 10 p.m., where they found a man with multiple stab wounds to his arms and neck. The victim told police the attack had previously occurred at 113 Yellowstone Avenue during an argument with 24-year-old Valerie Cerny, the mother of his child.

The investigation revealed that Cerny tried to kill the man with several stabs, police said.

Cerny was booked into the Box Butte County Jail and charged with attempted first-degree murder. She is being held pending trial.

The investigation is ongoing.
