Four dead, six injured in explosion at fireworks factory in Firozabad, rescue operations underway

Firozabad (Uttar Pradesh) [India]September 17 (ANI): Four people have died and six injured are being treated after an explosion occurred at a firecracker factory in Firozabad's Naushera on Tuesday, a senior police official said on Tuesday.

The house collapsed as a result of the explosion and it is feared that several people are trapped under the rubble, police said.

“In Shikohabad PS district, a house storing firecrackers occurred and an explosion occurred there. The force of the explosion caused the roof of a nearby house to collapse. Police rescued 10 people from the debris… 6 people are undergoing treatment in hospital and 4 people have died… further rescue operations are underway,” said Deepak Kumar IG Agra Range.

Meanwhile, Firozabad District Magistrate Ramesh Ranjan said rescue operations were underway.

“A rescue team is at the spot. Both the district hospital and the sub-district hospital are on high alert. Medical teams, ambulances, fire brigade, disaster management team are all at the spot,” said Firozabad District Magistrate Ramesh Ranjan.
