Fundraiser launched after Mt. Pleasant man dies in highway construction accident – The Morning Sun

At Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home in Farwell, funeral arrangements are underway for a Mt. Pleasant man who died in an accident at a highway construction site Friday.

Meanwhile, police continue to investigate the incident. A Go Fund Me donation has been set up for the family of 47-year-old Gregory Smith. Smith died Friday morning when he was struck by the car of a 66-year-old Detroit man in a construction zone on US 127 between Mt. Pleasant and Rosebush.

Smith leaves behind his fiancée Hollie Goosen-Krzyzanowski and their four children.

The Go Fund Me site remembers him for “so much more than just his work.”

“He was a loving fiancé to Hollie and a devoted father to their four wonderful children,” said organizer Cassie Confer. “His sudden loss has left an unimaginable hole in their hearts and homes.”

“Hollie and the children now face the overwhelming emotional and financial burden of having to carry on without him.”

Confer described in heartbreaking detail what Smith's loved ones are going through and how his death is affecting their lives.

“As a family, they no longer experience the simple joy of Greg walking through the front door and his face beaming with love for them,” she said. “His absence is deeply felt and the pain of his loss is indescribable.”

“Greg and Hollie's love for each other was there for everyone to see. It was in the way they looked at each other, a love that took your breath away.”

Confer said Go Fund Me was set up to help ease the financial burden.
