Hit and run case in Indore: Two young women were victims of a reckless road accident in Indore, police told PTI on Sunday. In a hurry to deliver a birthday cake, a BMW driver drove in the wrong direction and rammed a scooter, throwing two women onto the road. The driver fled the scene in the vehicle after the accident, which occurred late on Saturday evening.

The police have arrested the prime suspect after launching an investigation into the matter. The two women were rushed to the hospital where they succumbed to their injuries. The accident occurred in Khajrana area when Lakshmi Tomar and Diksha Jadon were returning on a scooter from the famous Khajrana Ganesh temple fair.

BMW rammed into scooter and threw the two women onto the street in Indore

“According to eyewitnesses, a BMW crashed into the scooter. The impact threw both women onto the road and they sustained life-threatening injuries. They were taken to a nearby hospital where they succumbed to their injuries,” said Manoj Singh Sendhav, in-charge of Khajrana police station.

Deceased victim of reckless driving in Indore was the only family member who earned money

Lakshmi Tomar worked in Indore but was originally from Shivpuri. Diskha Jadon was originally from Gwalior. Tomar had lost her father last year and was the sole breadwinner of the family, PTI reported. Another deceased, Diksha Jadon, was originally from Gwalior and worked in a government bank in Indore, police said.

Main suspect driver arrested

The main accused, who fled the accident scene in his car, was arrested on Sunday, reported The Indian Express. The driver, Gajendra Pratap Singh, hails from Gwalior in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh and lived in Suncity in the Indian state of Indore. Pratap was in a rush to deliver a cake for his friend's birthday party, said Deputy Commissioner of Police Kundan Mandloi. IEand added that the defendant was driving the luxury car in the wrong direction.

Singh, who works at a BPO in Indore, had bought a second BMW months ago. A case has been filed against him under Section 105 (intentional killing not amounting to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita.
