The accident occurred just before 3:30 a.m. on March 16 as a car driven by 26-year-old Scott Hollingsworth was traveling south on U.S. 81 at 119th Street, according to Sumner County Sheriff's Lt. Mike Friday. A westbound pickup truck struck the vehicle driven by Hollingsworth.

Hollingsworth was pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency medical services took three passengers in the pickup truck to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The pickup truck driver, later identified as Kaiser, was not injured.

Clearwater police said Hollingsworth had served the department for one year.

On September 10, Kaiser was arrested by Geary County officials. He remains in the Geary County Detention Center on $200,000 bail.
