Elon Musk reacts to the shooting of Donald Trump: “Nobody is trying to assassinate Biden/Kamala”

Responding to news of another shooting incident involving Donald Trump, billionaire and supporter Elon Musk used his social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) to question the “no” attacks on his political opponents Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

Trump is a former US President and the current Republican candidate for the upcoming US elections in November 2024. US Vice President Harris is the Democratic Party's candidate. She took office after US President Biden dropped out of the presidential race following a disastrous debate against Trump.

Reactions to the second attack

Harris also responded to the news on X, writing: “I have been informed of reports that shots were fired near former President Trump and his Florida estate, and I am glad he is safe. Violence has no place in America.”

Biden also responded to X, stating, “I was briefed by my team on what federal law enforcement is investigating today as a possible assassination attempt against former President Trump. A suspect is in custody, and I commend the work of the Secret Service and its law enforcement partners for their vigilance and efforts to protect the former President and those around him.”

He added: “I am relieved that the former President is unharmed. The incident remains under investigation as law enforcement gathers more details about what happened. As I have said many times, there is no place for political violence, or violence at all, in our country, and I have directed my team to continue to ensure that the Secret Service has all the necessary resources, capabilities, and protections to ensure the former President's continued safety.”

Shooting near Trump's golf course in Florida

Trump reportedly survived a second assassination attempt after shots were fired near the Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach, Florida, on September 15, 2024.

This gun incident came just two months after he was shot during a campaign rally. The AP reported that U.S. Secret Service agents opened fire after seeing a person with a gun near the golf course on Sunday.

An AK-type firearm was found near the golf course, the AP reported.

Spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said in a statement on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) that the Secret Service was investigating “a security incident involving Trump” that occurred shortly before 2 p.m. on September 15.

Trump is safe

In a fundraising email, Trump reassured his supporters and addressed the situation: “There was a shooting near me, but I want you to hear this from me first: I AM SAFE AND I AM FINE! Before rumors take over, you should know that I am fine. Nothing will stop me. I will NEVER SUCCEED! I will always appreciate your support.”

Steven Cheung, communications director for Trump's campaign, said in a statement that the 2024 Republican presidential candidate was “safe following the shooting near him,” but did not provide further details.
