Intel Cobra Core: Alleged code name for new core architecture revealed

What will Intel's future core architectures be called? A code name is now doing the rounds: for the first time, a Cobra Core is mentioned, but it will probably not see the light of day for a few years.

The name Cobra Core for an upcoming core architecture was discovered in a LinkedIn profile of an Intel employee. It also mentions the Royal Core, which will probably be released beforehand.

It is not yet clear which CPU generation the Cobra Core is intended for and when it will be released. The Finder gamma0burstwho documents his discovery with a screenshot, has been collecting information about upcoming Intel processors in the depths of the job portal Linked-In for quite some time.

There was also talk of the Royal Core, which is now being considered a hot candidate for Intel's Nova Lake CPU family. On a leaked roadmap from computer manufacturer Dell, Nova Lake was listed for early 2027. Panther Lake with Cougar Cove is expected to be released before then.

Right now and next month, Intel is expected to launch Arrow Lake with offshoots for desktop PCs and notebooks. Like Lunar Lake, which was just released as the Intel Core 200V for notebooks, Arrow Lake uses the Lion Cove architecture for the performance cores (P-Cores). It is likely that the Royal and Cobra cores are also a P-Core architecture.

Code names for Intel's core architectures (partly unconfirmed)

The fact that Intel is using Royal Core 1.0 for Nova Lake and Royal Core 1.1 for Beast Lake was reported by the not always accurate YouTube channel Moore's Law is dead brought into play. A planned Beast Lake successor with Royal Core 2.0 has since been discontinued, it is said.
