“Bodies over my car”: 2 dead after accident in front of liquor store in Detroit

DETROIT (FOX 2) – Two people were killed in a serious accident in which a vehicle crashed into the Prince Liquor branch in east Detroit late Sunday evening.

Although it is not yet clear what exactly happened, several vehicles were hit at Prince Liquor on Gratiot near Harper before a vehicle drove into the building shortly before midnight.

“I just want to say I'm thankful to be alive,” Jasmine Martin said. “I was in the car and it happened so fast… the car came at high speed and flew over my car, hit my car and all I saw were dead bodies all over my car.”

Martin was on her way home from work when she stopped at the store and found herself in the middle of the fatal accident.

“I didn’t expect anything like this,” she said.

The coroner confirmed that two people were killed. It is unclear whether the dead were in the vehicle or were passers-by. Other injuries are unknown.

The investigation is ongoing.
