Bloody drama in the subway station: fare dodgers escalate

New York City (USA) – Shock in new York: A police officer and three other people were injured in a shooting at a subway station.

As the New York Post reported, all of the injured were hit by bullets from a police weapon.

According to the authorities, the altercation began shortly after 3 p.m. on Sunday (local time), when officers confronted a fare dodger.

The man, later identified as Derrell Mickles (37), initially refused to stop and is said to have told police officers: “I will kill you if you don't stop following me.”

Shortly afterwards, the officers noticed that the 37-year-old was carrying a knife. They immediately ordered him to put the weapon on the ground.

The perpetrator probably jumped onto an incoming train shortly afterwards, whereupon the police used an electric shock device.

However, this did not stop him, but instead led to the man now losing his grip on the police officers with the knife.

“The police officer stepped back, drew his weapon and both officers fired. They fired several shots and the man fell to the ground. They were able to handcuff him and subdue him,” said a police spokesman.

Shortly afterwards, one of the officers noticed that he, the 37-year-old and two innocent bystanders had been hit by a bullet.

The injured police officer, who was shot in the shoulder, had to be hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
