Man drowns while fishing in southwest Delhi

New Delhi: A 32-year-old man drowned while fishing with friends in a wetland in southwest Delhi, police said on Monday.

They said the body of Mukesh Ram was found floating in the wetland of Najafgarh region.

The incident took place on September 12 when Mukesh was fishing with Tusleshwar, Monu and a child when he slipped and fell into deep water, police said.

The trio accompanying him fled out of fear and did not inform anyone about the incident, a senior police official said.

According to the official, Mukesh's brother, Dinesh Ram, filed a missing person's report on September 14, stating that his brother had gone fishing two days ago.

The victim's body was later recovered from the wetland, the official said, adding that further investigation was underway.
