Parents in sight: Colorful plastic watch still on schedule for 2025

We didn't see a new Apple Watch SE at the last keynote last Monday, but it remains in the pipeline. And it will come with a plastic case, which insiders are convinced could make this model particularly attractive for parents.

Apple showed exactly one Apple Watch at its keynote last Monday, the new Apple Watch Series 10, which has a larger and brighter display and not much else new. The wait for an Apple Watch SE was in vain, but Apple is continuing to work on it, according to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg.

The always well-informed editor proved once again in the run-up to the last keynote how accurate his predictions are, and one can safely assume that he is not entirely wrong with his outlook on an upcoming Apple Watch SE.

Plastic watch to encourage parents to buy

He writes in the latest edition of his weekly newsletter that Apple is continuing to develop an Apple Watch SE with a plastic case. There are some problems with the cost and quality, but I will still capture a model in bright colors.

Ideally, these could then be offered at an even lower price, which in turn could encourage even more parents to equip their children with an Apple Watch.

What seems absurd here is widespread in the USA, where in some districts more than half of the students have an Apple Watch strapped to their wrists, and further increasing the density of use here through competitive pricing is also a realistic goal.

A new Apple Watch SE, probably with a faster chip, is planned for next year, Gurman continued, and experience has shown that it could come in the spring, possibly together with the also expected new iPhone SE.
