One dead and 42 injured as bus falls from bridge in Bara

One passenger died and 42 others were injured when a bus fell off a bridge in Ward 8 of Nijgadh Municipality, Bara, along the East-West Highway on Sunday evening.

Six of the injured are in critical condition and are being treated at the Nepal Mediciti Vayodha Hospital in Birgunj.

The bus, travelling from Biratnagar to Dang, lost control and fell about 10 metres from the bridge.

According to Police Inspector Sumit Kushwaha, the deceased was identified as 45-year-old Chetan Raya Yadav of Deukhuri, Dang. He succumbed to his injuries during treatment at the hospital.

The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
