Iowa and Minnesota politicians react to assassination attempt on former President Trump – ABC 6 News

(ABC 6 News) – After a second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, officials are condemning the violence on social media.

Trump's rival for the White House, Democratic vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris, wrote on X: “I have been informed of reports that shots were fired near former President Trump and his Florida estate, and I am glad he is safe. Violence has no place in America.”

Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird also shared her thoughts on X, saying, “God bless President Trump. I am grateful for his safety.”

US Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) said on X: “I am glad President Trump is OK. After another assassination attempt and an FBI investigation, we need regular updates from the FBI so Americans know what is going on. MORE TRANSPARENCY FROM THE FBI.”

The Republican Party of Minnesota says: “Please pray for the President [Donald Trump] and for our country. Violence is NEVER the answer, and EVERY leader has a responsibility to call this out for what it is: disgusting, tragic, and anti-American.”

Minnesota Governor and Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz said on X: “Gwen and I are glad to hear that Donald Trump is safe. Violence has no place in our country. That is not what defines us as a nation.”
