Choreographer Jani Master arrested for sexual assault

Jani Master is charged under Section 376 (rape), Section 506 (criminal intimidation) and Section 323 (intentional causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code. Shikha Goel, Director General of Women Safety Wing Telangana, advised the film industry to conduct an internal investigation under the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (PoSH) Act and register a case with the police.

This development follows an earlier complaint in June by a dancer named Satish, who accused Jani Master of harassment in connection with film work. In 2019, Jani Master was sentenced to six months in prison for a 2015 brawl, while charges of assaulting a woman were dropped.

Recently, Jani Master made headlines for winning the National Award for Best Choreographer for the song ‘Megham Karigenu’ from the Tamil dubbed film ‘Thiru’ starring Dhanush, Nithya Menen and Raashi Khanna.
