Victim claims Jani attacked her several times

The woman claims that Jani sexually abused her “multiple times” during their location shoots in various cities, including Chennai, Mumbai and Hyderabad.

She also claimed that he attacked her several times in her apartment in Narsingi.

Based on her statement, no FIR was issued by the Raidurgam police and the case was subsequently transferred to the Narsingi police for further investigation.

Jani booked under several IPC sections

Jani was charged under Section 376, clause (2) and (n) (rape), intimidation (506) and intentional assault (323) of the Indian Penal Code.

Director General of Women Safety Wing Telangana Shikha Goel said that people from the film industry had approached her for advice on the case.

She assured: “The case will be investigated further according to protocol.”

These latest allegations came amid the raging #MeToo movement in Mollywood.

Janis' history of legal problems

Per The HinduIn 2019, Jani was sentenced to six months in prison by a local court in Hyderabad in connection with a brawl at a college in 2015.

He was charged with assault on a woman (Section 354), assault (Section 324) and threat (Section 506).

Ultimately, the charge of assault was dropped and the punishment was imposed under the remaining paragraphs.
