More victims come forward after Pocatello MMA trainer charged with alleged sexual contact with minors

SHELLEY – After a Pocatello man was charged in April with alleged sexual contact with a minor, he now faces similar allegations in two additional cases after more victims came forward.

In April, 37-year-old Maxie Riddle was charged in Bonneville County with two counts of lewd conduct with a child under the age of 16. He was also charged with two counts in Bingham County.

In his second case, he is charged with two counts of lewd conduct with a child under 16, sexual exploitation of a child and destruction or concealment of evidence.

In the third case, he is accused of penetration of a foreign body.

New allegations

According to court documents, a second victim came forward alleging that Riddle had sexually abused his child.

The victim reported to a Shelley police officer that Riddle raped her in his Shelley apartment in November 2018. She was 15 at the time and Riddle was 31.

According to the police report, the victim stated that the two had sexual intercourse “almost every day until about March 15.”

According to court documents, Riddle also received several nude photos and pictures of the victim.

On May 16, 2019, Riddle reportedly admitted to having sexual contact with the victim on multiple occasions. It is unclear why he was not charged at the time, but EastIdahoNews.com has asked Bingham County Prosecutor Ryan Jolley for clarification.

Officers then executed a search warrant on Riddle's home and seized his electronic devices, which reportedly contained “numerous” sexually exploitative images of the victim.

On the day of the first rape, the victim said Riddle was wearing an “orange, skin-tight body suit or morphsuit” before the rape.

During the search, officers looked for the morphsuit but could not find it.

According to police reports, on April 17, 2024, an Idaho Falls Police Detective investigating Riddle for alleged crimes in Idaho Falls contacted the Shelley Police Officer handling Riddle's case and told him he had learned from a witness that Riddle had disposed of an orange morphsuit because “the police were looking for it.”

If convicted of these charges, Riddle could face life in prison. He is scheduled to appear in Bingham County District Court for arraignment on October 9.

Further details

In the third case Riddle is facing, a third victim came forward on May 1, 2024, and told an Idaho Falls Police detective that she had also been sexually abused by Riddle in 2018, court documents show.

According to the victim, she met Riddle when she worked at Claire's and he was shopping in the store.

According to court documents, Riddle “returned to Claire's home several times and spoke with (the victim).” The victim was 17 years old at the time.

Riddle told the victim he was a boxing instructor and the two decided he would train her.

The victim says Riddle taught her how to “box and strike” at the Idaho Falls YMCA during the summer of 2018. Towards the end of the summer, he reportedly invited the victim to his Shelley apartment to train for boxing in his garage.

According to court documents, Riddle offered the victim water, and the two went inside. Once inside, Riddle allegedly “pushed the victim against a wall” and sexually assaulted her while she repeatedly told him to stop.

Riddle was questioned about these allegations while incarcerated at the Bonneville County Jail. He reportedly denied the allegations, saying, “I know if I wanted to be a forceful person, I really could be.”

If convicted on these charges, Riddle could face life in prison.

He is expected to appear in District Court for arraignment in that case, at the same time as his second case, on October 9.

Although Riddle is accused of these crimes, that does not necessarily mean he committed them. Everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
