Jurors arrest man who fled courtroom after being convicted of child abuse

SHOWHEGAN, Maine (Gray News) – Jurors have convicted a man who fled a courtroom after being convicted of attacking a 14-month-old child in Maine.

A jury had just convicted Nicholas Carter when he ran out of the courtroom on Wednesday, still handcuffed.

Some of the jurors immediately took action and pursued Carter.

After a few minutes, he stumbled and fell. Two jurors held him to the ground until the police arrived.

Carter is currently being held without bail in the Somerset County Jail pending sentencing.
