In a tragic incident, a 25-year-old student of IP University allegedly committed suicide after jumping from the seventh floor of his hostel. The student, Gautam Kumar from Vaishali in Bihar, was a first-year MBA student at the university's main campus in Sector 16.

About the incident

According to a statement from the Delhi Police, the incident took place at around 6.20 pm when the Dwarka North police station received a call reporting that a student had committed suicide. When the police reached the scene, they confirmed that Gautam Kumar had jumped from the seventh floor of the hostel building. His body was immediately shifted to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital for post-mortem.

Kills himself through disciplinary measures

Sources familiar with the situation revealed that Kumar was deeply upset after being evicted from the hostel for throwing a birthday party. The expulsion reportedly left him distressed and he is said to have taken this drastic step soon after the disciplinary action.

Slogans against the university administration

Significantly, the university administration has not yet issued any official statement on the incident. However, some of Kumar's fellow students expressed their anger and frustration by raising slogans against the university administration and criticising its handling of the situation. Further details of the incident are being ascertained.
