Terrorist stabs police officer at Damascus Gate in the Old City

A 20-year-old police officer was slightly injured in a knife attack at the Damascus Gate in Jerusalem's Old City on Sunday evening, Israeli media reported.

Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics and medics have begun treating the victim, who is fully conscious and in light condition at the scene, MDA reported, but he was evacuated to Hadassah Mount Scopus for further treatment.

According to a police spokesman, the attacker was shot dead on the spot by an officer of the Israeli border police.

“The terrorist who tried to escape to the Old Town was neutralized by other border police officers,” a police spokesman said.

“The stabbed officer was taken for medical treatment. Police and border guards on the scene cordoned off the area and began investigating the case.”
