On September 15th, a serious traffic accident occurred in Friesenhagen at around 9:15 a.m. A 20-year-old driver lost control of his Ford on the L 278, presumably due to excessive speed. After skidding, the vehicle crashed into a tree, was pushed off the road and ended up on its roof in the ditch on the opposite side of the road. The accident caused short-term traffic disruptions as the emergency services, fire brigade and police arrived.

The driver was injured in the incident and had to be taken to hospital in Siegen. There was considerable material damage and the vehicle was declared a total write-off.
