Man distracts woman's attention and kidnaps her child from Mathura railway station

Mathura: A man abducted a seven-month-old child from Mathura railway station on Sunday, allegedly after diverting the attention of his mother, police said.

The woman has reported a case to the Government Railway Police (GRP) stationed here. They have identified the person from the CCTV footage and are now searching for her, they said.

Samar Bahadur Singh, station manager at GRP, said that Sunita, a resident of Agra, works as a labourer near the railway station.

This morning, she was warming milk on a platform to feed her child. At that moment, an unknown person approached her and asked her not to give the child such hot milk, police said.

Later, he took the child in his arms, and when the woman began to pack her things and put them in a bag, the man disappeared with the child, it was said.

The woman immediately notified the GRP and efforts were made to search for the man and child, but the police were unable to locate them.

Singh said when police reviewed CCTV footage, they saw the man, wearing a white T-shirt and white pants, leaving the station premises with the child.

He said charges had been filed against the unidentified man and efforts were underway to nab him.
